Entertainment for Families at Home During COVID-19 Outbreak

by Joey Zoubi | Mar 31, 2020

First and foremost, we here at Pulse Power hope that you and your family stay safe and healthy during the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.  With that said, many families will be working from home in the coming weeks or months, and dynamics will be changing for families that would usually have children in school while parents worked.  We wanted to try to lighten the mood and share some ideas for family activities that the whole family can enjoy from home during isolation or quarantine.

  • Host a Picnic Lunch Party in the Back Yard – Don’t remain cooped up indoors, or you will prematurely feel the impacts. Get outside and find excuses to play games in the backyard, play tag, hide-and-seek, set up a small kiddy pool, etc. Sit in the sunshine as a family, soak up the Vitamin D, and bring your laptop outside for workdays from the yard.
  • Create a Scavenger Hunt that Leads to Treasure – Depending on their age; you can have kids look for anything from shapes, colors, objects, outdoor findings, and indoor discoveries. You can even connect this to chores. Print out a list and let them go to work! Incentive your teams with a prize such as a baked good or candy.
  • Bake Rainbow Crayons – You can take a fun baking container in shapes like hearts or stars, then fill them with old broken crayon bits. You will bake them in a muffin tin or silicone mold for 15 minutes at 250-degrees Fahrenheit. Allow them to cool, and the kids will love having a crayon that is unlike anyone else’s.
  • Educate Children with a Science Experiment – An excellent way to teach your children about the importance of ‘why’ we wash our hands, is to conduct a little science experiment. These 63 science experiments for kids are super-easy and a lot of fun to boot, as kids are exposed to a wide variety of scientific concepts. It's a great way to spend quality time together as a family and who knows, mom and dad may end up learning a new thing or two, too.

We are here for our community and to keep Texas Strong!
